Granlund Sweden celebrates five years of success
11.4.2025 – Granlund Sweden AB, part of the Granlund Group, have enjoyed half a decade of growth with their data center customers.

On 2 March 2020, the new company Granlund Sweden opened their doors. The first staff members were four data center experts, excited about the great potential for the data center industry. A few days later the COVID-19 virus was confirmed to be spreading nearly unchecked in Sweden.
“International travel practically stopped overnight,” recalls Marcus Karlsson, Managing Director of Granlund Sweden. “We did a lot of videoconferencing but also visited customers on site. We always asked the customers for their pandemic procedures and adapted to their requirements like maintaining social distances or wearing face masks. It was a tough time for everyone.”
Demand for data center design
It might not be ideal to start a new business during a pandemic, but the four specialists were veterans in the data center field and knew their customers. Also, there was still a growing need for data centers.
“Society used even more data, such as through remote working, so the pandemic helped to emphasize the importance of data centers,” Karlsson explains.
In fact, when the world experienced a sharp recession during the pandemic the Granlund Group noticed an increasing demand for their data center design services. That demand continued through the end of the pandemic to where we are today. More recently, there has been an increased demand for AI data centers. Granlund Sweden started with four experts in March 2020 and five years later the company consists of fourteen staff members.
Bright future
“That is definitely what I am most proud of: how we have grown along with our customers,” says Karlsson. “We have increased our competences by attracting skilled people who are highly appreciated by our customers. Our greatest asset is our people, and they are the key to our success.”
Granlund Sweden’s head office is located in Lidköping, but the staff are spread all over the country and go wherever customers need them, from Malmö in the south up to Lapland in the north. Karlsson is proud of the past five years and he is excited about the time to come.
“I expect the demand for data centers will continue to grow, and we want to grow as well, to best serve our customers,” he says. “I believe we have found our place in the market.”
