Granlund has acquired a majority of the shares in the Swedish company Coordia Consult AB. The Stockholm-based company focuses on construction and project management as well as supervision. Coordia was founded in 1969 and employs almost 30 people. The net sales in 2024 was 5,2 million euros.

“It’s great to have Coordia as part of the Granlund Group. Our goal is to grow the construction management and project management business in Sweden, and Coordia has very strong expertise in these areas,” says Pekka Metsi, CEO of Granlund.

Strong synergy between the companies

The companies have strong synergy, as both have extensive expertise in technically demanding projects. Both companies also have a strong foothold in the public sector, such as hospital and school projects.

“We see many possibilities for Coordia as part of Granlund Group. One important sector is hospitals and healthcare, where we both have extensive experience. With Granlund we can also provide a broader set of services for our customers”, comments Jonas Bonns, CEO of Coordia.

He also sees similarities in the cultures of the companies. “Coordia and Granlund are very similar in their operations. Both have strong expertise, and projects always aim for the best quality and customer experience.”

Coordia’s partners Thomas Sandin and Magnus Eriksson, as well as Jonas Bonns will remain with the company after the acquisition. “From Granlund’s point of view, it is important for us that the company management remains in the company as we continue our journey together”, says Timo Palonkoski, Business Development Director of Granlund.

Construction management business is growing strongly

Granlund’s construction management business has been growing strongly in recent years. In Finland, the division’s turnover increased by 39% last year to approximately EUR 24 million. This is a significant part of the Group’s total turnover (EUR 152.1 million). The company’s direction is to expand its business from MEP design to structural and architectural design and construction management.

“Our goal is to grow and internationalise, as well as to strengthen construction management and overall design services both in Finland and abroad. Sweden is one of the key countries in our growth,” says CEO Pekka Metsi.

Granlund already has three subsidiaries in Sweden. There are two companies operating in Stockholm, one of which focuses on electrical design and the other on structural engineering and data center projects. In addition, the Lidköping-based company focuses on the data center business. In total, the company has approximately 60 employees in Sweden.

After the acquisition, Coordia Consult AB will continue to operate as a subsidiary of Granlund Oy as part of the Group.
