Granlund Oy has closed a corporate acquisition deal with Lean 4D Oy, which specializes in 4D scheduling of construction projects. The aim is to take the data-based scheduling and cost control of construction projects to a completely new level and thereby support the development of productivity in the construction sector.

Lean 4D Oy and its partner companies are pioneers in 4D scheduling based on data from construction projects’ data models. 4D schedules are used to virtually visualize the progress of construction, thus providing support for example to logistics, work planning and takt production, as well as anticipate risks in schedules and thereby in costs.

“At Granlund, our aim is to develop our services in the cost control and schedule management of construction projects. We have the data and Lean 4D offers powerful data refining and visual solutions for scheduling and cost management. Through our data platform, we also want to integrate for example  the data-driven management of carbon footprint more extensively. As a result, the productivity of experts increases and the quality of the work improves because the data is under control and the experts can focus on the actual analysis and guidance work,” says Pekka Metsi, CEO of Granlund.

“The merger with Granlund facilitates significant growth for our 4D business – Granlund is a large specialist group that will give us the opportunity for that. The aim is to integrate our data management expertise into Granlund’s current operations and extend it to the 5D level, in which case, for example, cost data is imported into the data models. This allows for better transparency and sharing of information,” comments Jouni Ojala, Chairman of Lean 4D.

Lean 4D Oy was founded in 2019 and has four employees. The current acquisition includes the shares of Lean 4D Oy and the business operations of Rakennuslordi Oy and BIMilization Inc., which promote the digital functions in the construction sector. Lean 4D Oy will merge into Granlund by the summer of 2022 and the experts will transfer to the Group as former employees.
